Nancy Reagan did her dead-level best to teach me, "Just say no," but I fail to exercise my right in the negative more often than not. I simply have a hard time saying no. Many projects look like fun to me.

Being willing to try new things has helped me to expand my skills as well as to recognize when something is truly beyond my grasp or interest.

So I generally say no only if I have a schedule conflict, if I want to encourage someone else a chance to try their hand at a task, or if I am completely out of my element.

The real joy of your post, even though you didn't know it when you wrote it, is this: The title of the Beatles' song is actually "With A Little Help From My Friends" (You can see where this is going, can't you?) and the opening lines are:

What would do think if I sang out of tune,
Would you stand up and walk out on me.
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song,
And I'll try not to sing out of key.

So when your friends need you, you sing. In tune, out of tune, wrong tune -- none of it matters if it's the right heart.
