Helpless Jesus
by WCBMia is indeed a blessing. And, can she sing.
Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Waaa!!!
She can do it around the clock, too.
More often than not, she just needs to be fed, changed or just cuddled for reassurance that all is well with the world.
It causes me to wonder about what it was like for Jesus when He was a newborn. Was He so helpless? Did he sing, too? Did he have tiny hands? Did he respond to the soft voice of his mother and deep voice of his earthly guardian, Joseph?
Where was the Devil when Jesus was in such a vulnerable state? Why didn’t that old worm do his dirty work when the Son of Man was so helpless to defend Himself?
Or was Jesus so helpless then?
I remember something about angels keeping watch -
“See to it that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heave always see the face of my Father in heaven.” (Matt. 18:10)
Was Jesus speaking from experience here?
Oh, and what about the great eagle standing by and that child being snatched up to the throne and such? (Rev 12). Hmm…
A more appropriate question - when we are completely and solely in a position where we must absolutely rely on God for protection are we really helpless or does it just look that way?

When Jesus was in the helpless state of babyhood, Satan was certainly not unaware of him. Remember the story? Wicked King Herod learned from the Magi that a “king of the Jews” had been born, so he tried to find Jesus to kill him. In dreams, an angel of the Lord told (1) the Magi not to see Herod again, and (2) Joseph to escape with Jesus and Mary to Egypt. Jesus et al stayed in Egypt until Herod died and an angel told Joseph in a second dream that it was finally okay to go home. (Meanwhile, Herod had slaughtered all boys under two years old in the Bethlehem area.)
As a human baby, Jesus was totally helpless, and he would have been killed if God the father hadn’t intervened.
