Growing Our Relationships
In addition to our worship time (described on our Visitors page), we have
several other opportunities to grow in relationship with God and each other:
CLASSES
Our Sunday morning classes for children and adults are focused on learning
and practicing God's timeless truths presented to us through the Bible and
through the perspective of other Christian writings.
SMALL GROUPS / FELLOWSHIP
We have various small group meetings during the week, including women's and
men's lunches, all of which offer opportunities to
share, pray, and grow in an informal setting. Friday evenings are a time
for members and friends of all ages to meet at a member's home to talk,
snack, and play together. Occasional potlucks are also good times for
fellowship.
DAYBREAK CAMP WEEKEND
Each fall we spend a weekend at Daybreak Camp to encourage spiritual growth.
Check the PACC Calendar for a list of current events and activities.
Sharing Our Faith
We feel the most important thing we can do on earth is to help others come
into relationship with the creator of the universe through his son Jesus
Christ. We share this good news not only with our families and friends, but
also with others around the world.
SIERRA BIBLE CAMP
For a week every summer, our church sponsors a session at Sierra Bible Camp
near Mt. Lassen, where campers can grow their faith and come close to God
through their interactions with the Bible, nature, drama, sports, and other
activities. See our Camp pages for more information.
WORSHIP JAM
Worship Jam is a ministry started by two members of PACC with a desire to save
musicians. Fred Hoot recognized that musicians face some lifestyle challenges
that can be hazardous to both physical and spiritual health. Perhaps the least
of these challenges is difficultly getting up for a Sunday morning service
after playing a gig till 2 am on Saturday. Worship Jam allows musicians to
meet together Saturday and worship and play before starting their work. Of
course, one need not be a professional musician to attend.
Serving Our Community
We believe that our faith is to be expressed by blessing others. Our
congregation is involved in serving the community in these ways:
HOTEL DE ZINK
We assist InnVision/UMPA by hosting Hotel de Zink, a homeless program, for the month
of April. To learn more about Hotel de Zink, see the InnVision website
or you can read about Hotel de Zink's history at The Palo Alto History Project.
PALO ALTO NURSING CENTER
On the second Sunday of each month, a group of church members meets at the
Palo Alto Nursing Center to encourage the residents by singing, reading from
the Bible, praying, and visiting with them.
HOLIDAY GIVING
During November we work with Palo Alto Housing Corporation to provide
Thanksgiving dinners to families in a financial bind. We also participate
in our own program, Souls-Not-Cards, where instead of sending Christmas
cards to church members, we post Christmas greetings on a church bulletin
board and give the money we saved to help other families in the area.
